One of the great Academy One classes of all time in terms of talent, education, excellence, work ethic, and success!! Our first large class, as well. Every member achieved great things athletically, academically, and personally despite having something difficult that they had to overcome. Austin has been a member of Academy One Goalkeeping since the ripe age of ten. He was one of the longest standing members of the Academy and one of the original five members. When he was ten and eleven years old, Austin was already one of the best goalkeepers in Maryland. Around that time, Austin and his family then decided to focus on several other sports. Austin would develop into a taleneted ice hockey, tennis, and squash player (Austin won the Squash Award at St. Paul's High School his Junior year). Austin still managed to find time to play club soccer and in the top league in the Baltimore area no less. This was while he was particpating in other sports leagues. When Austin attended high school at St. Paul’s School for Boys, he was the number one ranked player on both the tennis and squash teams. Austin was one of the best goalkeepers in the history of St. Paul’s and he climaxed his career by leading the historically weak soccer program to the Conference finals (Where they lost in a shoot-out). He was then named All-Conference in the best private school conference in the nation with an amazing 0.40 Goals Against Average. Austin graduated from St. Paul’s as a perennial honor roll member. After high school, Austin had several colleges knocking at his door for soccer. He would chose to play for St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Plus, he got the opportunity to be a part of the honors college of Maryland. He attended St. Mary's along with fellow Academy members Nate, Ramsland, Allison Griffin, Kelsey Wirtz, and Shelby Perkins. After an injury sidelined him for most of his freshmen year, Austin was able to earn playing time. At the end of the season Austin was named CAC All-Academic team. As a sophomore, Austin was named starting keeper and captain in acknowledgement of his work ethic and leadership. At the beginning of his sophomore season Austin was named MVP of the St. Mary's Seahawk Classic tournament in leading St. Mary's to the tournament title. He finished his sophmore year winning The Coach's Award. During his junior and senior year, he was a starter, but was plagued by an injury. Despite the injury, Austin was still named CAC All-Academic Team, CAC Defensive Player of the Week, Team's Player of the Year, and Team's Defensive Player of the Year. Austin finished his career at St. Mary's as one of the best goalkeepers and leaders in the school's history. Austin has since developed a wide variety of hobbies from travel, to hiking, to skiing and even horse wrangling which he became very accomplished in. All of these skills came in handy after college when he moved to Montana to become a manager of a Dude Ranch. After several years of "Horsing around," Austin joined the business world as a sales and marketing associate. Austin has done an excellent job coaching goalkeepers in the Baltimore/Washington area and the Bozeman, Montana area. We are very proud to have him as an Academy One Director. He lives in Bozeman, Montana.

After Ethan graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase, he chose to attend academically prestigious Middlebury College. Ethan was on the team all four years and was NESCAC All Conference Academic honors in every year. Ethan won the Most Improved Player Award and was Team Captain his Senior season. Working cross-culturally and bilingually, Ethan has successfully transformed two Chinese businesses into global success stories. Ethan took time off to earn his Master's in Business Administration at Institut Européen d'Administration des Affaires. In an Academy full of remarkable and accomplished members, Allison proved to be one of the most resilient and conquering of all members in AOG history. Allison started off as a member of the Maryland State ODP team and played high level club soccer. As a Freshmen in high school, Allison suffered a severe fractured lower disk in her back that cost her nearly to miss two years of any activity. After a long and difficult rehabilitation, Allison returned to soccer only to suffer a severe concussion not too long after which costed her a year and a half of athletic and academic activity. She was required to finish her Junior year of high school during her Senior year, while maintaining her Senior classes. Againm Allison committed herself to intensive rehab and returned to excel athletically and academically. The two years she was able to play high school soccer, her team won the County, Regional and Maryland State Championships. Upon graduating, Allison earned the Outstanding Student-Athlete Award and the Student Leadership Award, as well as being a Student Government member. In the one year that she was able to play club soccer, she joined fellow Academy member Shelby Perkins' Laurel team and helped them to a State Championship. Despite NCAA Division I offers from other schools, Allison chose St. Mary's College of Maryland (The honors college of Maryland). Once again Shelby Perkins is a teammate on the St. Mary's team, along with fellow AOG member Kelsey Wirtz. Allison was able to earn playing time in goal, but her team was riddled with injuries. Allison again amazed everyone with her athletic ability, versatility, and hard work by starting many games in her first year of college as an outside defender. In her second year of college play, Allison again earned minutes in goal and in the field, but injuries minimized her opportunities. Allison spent her college summers studying and helping children overcome issues that result from brain injuries at the highly prestigious internship program at Children's National Hospital. She also spent a semester at George Washington University studying Political Science. During her junior year Allison earned starting minutes in goal and field time. In her final season, Allison played most of her time in the field to help the team in any way possible. Allison was also a member of The St. Mary's College of Maryland Women's Tennis team showing her athletic versatility and prowess. It is very rare that someone can play two NCAA sports at the same time. After graduating with honors with a degree in Psychology, Political Science, and Neuroscience, Allison worked as a Research Assistant at the prestigious National Institute of Health for six years where she worked under the mentorship of Dr. Lawrence Latour in the Stroke Diagnostics and Therapeutics lab. During her time at the NIH, Allison developed methods of MRI guided pathology to allow for direct comparison of cellular changes observed on histology with in-vivo imaging in patients with traumatic brain injury and stroke, by developing customized experimental and computational protocols.. Allison then was accepted to the rigorous and esteemed Vanderbilt University's Chemical and Physical Biology PhD program. Besides athletic and academic interests, Allison loves sailing with her friends and family. Allison is engaged and lives in Nashville, Tennessee.

Sean joined Academy One Goalkeeping in 2006. Standing at 6’ 6” he was the tallest member the Academy when he joined. The NCSL was considered one of the best leagues in the nation in its time. He then moved to the US Soccer Academy Potomac team when US Soccer Academy first started. He was offered the starting position again with Potomac, but he chose to focus more on his studies and joined one of the best club teams in the Region – the Free State Elite. The Free State Elite team was three time Maryland State Champions. Sean shared goalkeeping duties with another fellow Academy One member Kyle McGehrin. The team ended that season finishing highly in Region I Premier League and doing well in several premier level tournaments. They lost in the State Cup finals to Academy One member Seth MacMillan's Pachuca team. After the Elite folded, Sean rejoined his original Bowie where he led them to a State Championship defeating AOG member Seth MacMillan's team in a rematch from the previous year. Sean played only one year of high school soccer due to coaching problems at his school. In the one year he did play, the team won a County Championship. Sean also was a member of the Maryland ODP State team. Despite receving offers from numerous NCAA Division I programs, Sean opted to play for nationally ranked Divison III college, Christopher Newport University. In his first season at Christopher Newport, the team was ranked as high as #1 in the nation. The team won its USA Conference Championship and then lost in the NCAA Tournament second round. In his second season, Sean was the back-up keeper as the team won their third straight USA Conference Championship and made another NCAA Tournament appearance. During his Junior and Senior seasons, he was an All-USA South Conference selection and was a team captain during his senior season. After college and graduation, Sean immediately began his coaching career at Christopher Newport where he worked with the goalkeepers. He also worked with local clubs and goalkeepers in the Norfolk, Virginia area. Sean spent the next two years as the goalkeeper coach for St. Mary's College of Maryland. He also was Goalkeeping Director for clubs in the Southern Maryland area. Sean was then offered a Graduate position at Bridgewater College where he helped with the team and the recruiting, while studying at James Madison University. Sean graduated from James Madison University with a Master's in Sports Administration. Sean accepted a full time coaching position at his ideal university in the Norfolk, Virginia area. Sean has been an active member of Academy One's staff in training and directing the program. He currently lives with his stunning wife Kirsten and their two feisty dogs in the Norfolk, Virginia.

In 2008 Seth participated in the U17 National Team Camp. Along with his success in soccer, he was successful academically and even won the Academy One Goalkeeper Academic Award winner. After high school, Seth had numerous college soccer opportunities, but he chose to attend Princeton University for its high level of soccer and its demanding academics. Seth was able to work his way to the back-up/#2 goalkeeper slot on the team that won the Ivy League championship and earned a berth in the NCAA tournament. He eventually pursued his deep passion for photography, video, and editing. He worked as a cinematographer, editor, and photographer in the New York City area. He then was accepted to do a Master's program at The American Film Institute in Los Angeles, California where he currently resides.

Shelby originally joined as a member of Academy One Goalkeeping when she was ten years old. She became an active member back in the summer of 2008. She is one of the best goalkeepers in the state, as well as an excellent student and a big personality. Upon arriving at her high school at Notre Dame Prep, she was the school’s only goalkeeper for her four years. The team made several conference final fours. As a high school student, Shelby was an honor student, Science National Honor Society and Tri-M Music National Honor Society member. She received the School Spirit Award. As a club player, Shelby led her Laurel club team to two Maryland State Cup Championships. The team also finished high in the Region I Premier league and numerous premier level tournaments. Shelby was a finalist for the Academy One Goalkeeping Academic Award. After weighing offers from various colleges, Shelby chose to attend St. Mary’s College of Maryland (The honors college of Maryland) where she was a freshmen starter along with fellow Academy One member Allison Griffin and Kelsey Wirtz. Shelby finished her first year at St. Mary's with excellent grades and being voted Class President. Unfortunately, Shelby suffered a knee injury in the summer before her sophomore season that ended her soccer career. During her junior year, Shelby went to India to study abroad. She was an intern for the Maryland General Assembly during her Senior year. Shelby graduated from St. Mary's with honors with a degree in Political Science and Government, International Cultures and Language: Spanish. Shelby worked for a year at St. Mary's as a Coordinator of Student Activities. Shelby was The Ride Director 4k for Cancer where she helped organize and administrate St. Mary's students and other ride bikes across the United States. She went with the group for the ride across country. To continue Shelby's wanderlust to an even greater extent, she joined the Peace Corps as a teacher and administrator in Lesotho, Africa. After returning the US, Shelby attended graduate school at Stanford University studying International Policy and Cyber Policy. She is also a Graduate Research Assistant. Shelby originally joined as a member of Academy One Goalkeeping when she was ten years old. She became an active member back in the summer of 2008. She is one of the best goalkeepers in the state, as well as an excellent student and a big personality. Upon arriving at her high school at Notre Dame Prep, she was the school’s only goalkeeper for her four years. The team made several conference final fours. As a high school student, Shelby was an honor student, Science National Honor Society and Tri-M Music National Honor Society member. She received the School Spirit Award. As a club player, Shelby led her Laurel club team to two Maryland State Cup Championships. The team also finished high in the Region I Premier league and numerous premier level tournaments. Shelby was a finalist for the Academy One Goalkeeping Academic Award. After weighing offers from various colleges, Shelby chose to attend St. Mary’s College of Maryland (The honors college of Maryland) where she was a freshmen starter along with fellow Academy One member Allison Griffin and Kelsey Wirtz. Shelby finished her first year at St. Mary's with excellent grades and being voted Class President. Unfortunately, Shelby suffered a knee injury in the summer before her sophomore season that ended her soccer career. During her junior year, Shelby went to India to study abroad. She was an intern for the Maryland General Assembly during her Senior year. Shelby graduated from St. Mary's with honors with a degree in Political Science and Government, International Cultures and Language: Spanish. Shelby worked for a year at St. Mary's as a Coordinator of Student Activities. Shelby was The Ride Director 4k for Cancer where she helped organize and administrate St. Mary's students and other ride bikes across the United States. She went with the group for the ride across country. To continue Shelby's wanderlust to an even greater extent, she joined the Peace Corps as a teacher and administrator in Lesotho, Africa. After returning the US, Shelby attended graduate school at Stanford University studying International Policy and Cyber Policy. She is also a Graduate Research Assistant. Tim was one of the most decorated members of Academy One Goalkeeping. As a member of the Casa Mia Bays club team out of Baltimore, Maryland, his team won two Maryland State Cup Championships, two Regional United States Championships and two Unites States Youth Soccer National Championships. Both times, Tim was named the winner of the Golden Glove Award for the nation’s top youth goalkeeper. After winning the award for a second time, Tim’s gloves were inducted into the International Soccer Hall of Fame for being the first youth goalkeeper to achieve the feat. Tim’s Casa Mia team also won the Region I Premier League and the National League for the top teams in the US. After winning the repeat National Club Championships, Tim joined the Baltimore Bays US Soccer Academy team. In the U-18 Academy age group, the team made the national playoff final four. Tim did find the time to play one year as a member of the Maryland State ODP team. As a high school player, Tim was twice named All-Conference, All-County, All-Met and Maryland All-State. In his senior year he was also named Regional All-American. Tim was picked as a State by State Top Player by ESPN Rise Magazine and garnered NSCAA first-team all-south honors. He helped lead his Loyola High School team to the MIAA private school Final Four. What is little known about Tim, and a testament to his athletic ability, Tim was a member of the US National Baseball pool. After high school, Tim accepted a scholarship to attend San Diego State University and play for their nationally ranked soccer team. In his first season at San Diego State, Tim earned the back-up slot and traveled with the team, he was able to play in a couple matches. As a sophomore, Tim earned starting time as the team finished in the middle of one of the best conferences in the nation. A shoulder injury hurt his opportunities for a year, but Tim was able to play more matches in his next active season. Time also played on the Real Maryland PDL team that was a National PDL playoffs. Eventually, Tim's shoulder injury, and the subsequent surgery, ended his career. Tim graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Management Information Systems. Tim worked in the Southern California area for a couple years working in IT. He married his stunning wife and then moved to Ohio where he accepted a position as an IT Assurance Manager. Tim and his wife live in the Columbus, Ohio area with their son.

With one of the most interesting personalities, as well as an excellent goalkeeper, Noah Sees, also known as Big Dawg, became a member of Academy One Goalkeeping in 2006. Noah was a member of several club teams in his youth soccer career and he has had success with each one. His club teams always played at the highest level in the best leauge in the DC/Maryland/N. Virginia area. They routinely finished in the top eight in both the state cup and numerous premier level tournaments. Noah’s best club season was when he was a member of the Lower Merion team out of Philadelphia. His Lower Merion team won the Pennsylvania State Cup Championship, the Regional United State Championship and made the US Youth Soccer Championship final four. Noah also gave up only one goal in leading the team to win the Region I Premier League. They also won numerous premier level tournaments. As a high school player, Noah started for perennial Maryland/DC powerhouse Churchill High School. He was named All-County his junior year. Unfortunately, during Noah's senior year, he was involved in a car accident which sadly forced him to miss his entire senior season. Noah would graduate as an honor student from Churchill. He had offers from numerous colleges and chose to attend nationally ranked Baldwin-Wallace College in Cleveland. Noah wanted to study either athletic training, vocal opera performance or Chinese language. During his freshmen year at Baldwin-Wallace, Noah's injuries persisted and worsened from poor medical treatment. Noah's mounting injuries forced him to give up soccer only for the time being as he transferred to Lane Community College in Oregon to seek medical treatment which would allow him to continue his soccer career. Unfortunately, Noah was never able to get his soccer career up and running again. He would continue his life for nature and activity. Noah tried his hand at many things in the outdoor world. He attempted stand up comedy. Noah eventually settled in Ohio where he apprenticed and then successfully succeeded as a high quality furniture maker. Noah did have issues with his health, but he continues on with a positive attitude that those of us that know Noah would never doubt.

Kelly joined Academy One Goalkeeping in 2004. She was a demanding individual with high standards and loves to work hard. As a high school player at Chapelgate Christian Academy, Kelly lettered four years in soccer. She was the soccer team captain as a Junior and Senior and she was All-Conference and All-County. Kelly was a member of the Maryland ODP State team from 2004-2009. Her Maryland team was ODP Region One Champions (2007-2009), Bronze medalist at ODP Nationals 2007 and 2008. Kelly played club soccer for Vista Shockwave who were two time Virginia State Cup Champions and Region 1 semifinalist 2009. They were US Club National Champions 2008. Kelly showed her athleticism that helped her in soccer by lettering four years in basketball and one year in softball. Kelly was also a member of National Honor Society and on the honor roll all four years. She was even named a "Student of Excellence" and "English Literature" award recipient. Kelly joined the United States Air Force Academy in 2010 and has started as a true Freshmen from the moment she arrived. Upon the beginning of her college career she was named Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Players of the Week and she was named to the All-Tournament team of the Air Force Academy Fall Classic tournament. She finished her freshmen season as the primary starter. In her second season at Air Force, Kelly was the primary starter and improved upon her first year, even when the team wasn't able to equal the previous years record. Kelly's success continued through her entire Air Force Academy career. She finished as the best goalkeeper in the history of the Air Force Academy and holds the most major goalkeeping record, as well as being named Conference Player of the Week, Athlete of the Week, and earning Academic All-Conference every year. After graduating from the Air Force Academy, Kelly earned her Master's Degree in English from Pennsylvania State University. She worked for the Air Force Academy in Colorado in various capacities as an instructor and as an Aide-de-Camp to the Air Force Academy Superintendent. Kelly earned a major goalkeeping accomplishment by being named to the All Air Force team and the All Armed Services team that plays in major international competitions. Today, Kelly lives in Colorado with her husband.

Kelsey joined Academy One Goalkeeping in 2012. She was one of the top goalkeepers in Maryland in her age bracket and certainly one of the best ever to come out of her hometown of Hereford, Maryland. Kelsey had a standout career for her Hereford High School team. She led them to back-to-back Regional Championships in junior and senior year. She was team captain both seasons and was named Team MVP, All-County, and All-State for her record setting play in her senior year. Kelsey's club soccer career was a lesson in slow and steady success. She played with the Parkville Soccer Club team that moved from Division 5 of the WAGS soccer league to ending at the Division 2 level after a few years. Kelsey's Parkville team made it to three straight state quarterfinal appearances, always losing to an eventual finalist. Kelsey chose to play at St. Mary's of Maryland College and was part of the honors college of Maryland. She was teammates with fellow Academy member Allison Griffin and Shelby Perkins. Kelsey has been the primary starter at St. Mary's since her arrival. As a freshmen, she earned CAC All-Conference honors and was named CAC and St. Mary's College Rookie of the Year Award winner. During that season, she was named Player of the Week twice. She did even better her sophomore season where she again repeated her All-Conference honors. By the way, SHE earned all those accolades after tearing her ACL. She started first two games of the season before tearing her ACL. She returned to start the final seven games of 2013, leading her team to 5-2-0 record. She finished with 6-2-1 mark and led conference with .894 save percentage, and ranked second in CAC with 0.54 G.A.A! Outside of soccer, Kelsey was a Girl Scout's earned the Girls Scout of America Gold Award. She was a member of Hereford Environmental Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Hereford Chess Club. Kelsey went on to graduate with a degree in Psychology and Environmental Studies. She loves anything to do with the outdoors. After college, Kelsey pursued her passion of helping the environment and wildlife as she became an assistant for the National Wildlife Federation and later became an intern for the Louisiana Bucket Brigade. She eventually settled as a surgical assistant in New Orleans where she currently lives with her handsome husband and regal dog.
