Academy One Goalkeeping started in the late 1990s because of the drastic need for a goalkeeping program that taught scientific/technical goalkeeping and helped with a goalkeeper's future. Academy One Goalkeeping is not a business, but a ministry devoted to helping young people have soccer provide a better life. Academy One Goalkeeping concerns itself solely with the development of the individual. Whether it is furthering a professional career, developing a young keeper, counseling a perspective college keeper, we believe that soccer can create a better life through many different opportunities. We approach goalkeeping scientifically and holistically.
BOTTOM LINE, WE TEACH GOALKEEPING!! WE DO NOT DO SESSION AFTER SESSION OF DIVE! DIVE! DIVE! JUMP AROUND CONES! THEN DIVE SOME MORE. WE ONLY CARE ABOUT PROGRESS AND INSTRUCTION THAT DIRECTLY LEADS TO PLAYING AT THE HIGHER LEVELS OF SOCCER. Here are our guidelines for the Academy:
We have been involved with goalkeeping as either players or coaches for over 50 years. From the local recreation league to professional Premier Leagues, we have experienced the traditions, teachings and training methods that are considered the "Gold Standard" of goalkeeper training. We see the advertisements and hear the claims that promise improvement and development through "high intensity training" or "professional level atmosphere"...and we see that the system is flawed. Unlike field players, playing goalkeeper in a game is very different from how goalkeepers are trained. We believe that goalkeeper training should mirror what goalkeepers do in a game. Excellence in goalkeeping does not come from knowing or doing drills. Excellence in goalkeeping does not come from getting dirtier or sweatier than the next goalkeeper. Excellence in goalkeeping comes from learning the physical, technical, mental, tactical and psychological science of goalkeeping at the highest level and utilizing that to develop the individual over the course of time to their maximum potential. That is how our keepers are taught and trained.

- We are not trainers who work with a group or an individual from session to session. We are teachers, advisers, counselors, mentors, representatives and coaches who plan for the long term career, specific to each keeper.
- We choose the keepers with whom we work. We aren’t interested in the biggest numbers or the most money. We are not strictly looking for the best keepers we can find. We turn down twice as much work as we accept. We deliberately look for keepers who care about soccer and personify character and dedication, as well as being serious about their potential.
- We want our keepers, and their parents, to understand that soccer is an amazing sport that creates opportunity for: growth, learning, character and options for the future, but it is not an end-all-be-all. No matter how serious a keeper or their family is about the sport, it is not the sole guiding force for one’s life.
- We care about our players. We care about their future and we care about their goals. Our concern for our players goes far beyond their fees. We have made calls and written letters to recommend players who have long since been asked to leave the Academy. Our commitment to a player goes above and beyond any contract.
