Ashley Cox

Ashley joined Academy One in the Winter of 2012. She is one of the top goalkeepers in Virginia and the Northeast region of the US. She playede for one of the best club teams in the nation, The Herndon Firecats. They play in the US Soccer National League for the top teams in the country and they play in the Region I Premier League. The Firecats won the Virginia State Cup twice and was a finalist one other year. Ashley's team earned a spot in the Super Y-League National finals. Ashley has been a member of the Virginia District and State ODP teams, including a spot on the ODP international trip to Spain and Portugal. Ashley's club team has been a force in all the major premier level tournaments throughout the country. As a high school player, Ashley has been a starter on one of the best DC area private schools since her freshmen year. Bishop Denis O' Connell High School is one of the best athletic and academic schools in the DC metro area. Fellow Academy members Robert Flott and Monica Pearring also attended O' Connell. Her school team has made the finals of the WCAC private school league and has won the regular season title with Ashley in goal on more than one occasion. Ashley has been named All-Area for the WCAC twice. Ashley injured her knee badly during her sophomore season, but came back better and fitter than before. As a high school student, Ashley earned the Physical Education Award and was named a Student Ambassador. Ashley is also an honor student. Ashley committed to a scholarship to study and play soccer at nationally ranked Slippery Rock University. She red-shirted her freshmen season due to injury, but looks forward to a bright career at the Pennsylvania school while studying physical therapy.
